Very warm, some thundery rain, much uncertainty in forecast confidence next week

Much uncertainty in the forecast from the weekend and into next week. It is likely that there will be some thundery showers or outbreaks of rain, staying warm in the south but fresher in the north. Before then the weather is mixed with some thundery rain here and there, a risk of this being heavy in the east on Thursday.

Friday 26/8/22
Pressure is mostly high across the country on Friday. A weak front gives cloud and some spots of rain in much of Scotland as well as parts of northwest England, Wales and southwest England. Brighter and drier in the west of Scotland and Ireland with sunny spells. Brighter for eastern and southern areas of England with some good spells of sunshine here. Feeling very warm. Highs at 28C in the southeast, 16C in the northwest.

Saturday 27/8/22
High pressure settling over the UK and Ireland. Cloud and a chance of a few spots of drizzle for western Ireland and western Scotland. Other areas will be dry and bright with the best sunshine in eastern areas. Highs at 26C in the south and east, 18C in northwest Scotland and 24C in southern Ireland.

Sunday 28/8/22
A shallow area of low pressure may be close to Ireland on Sunday. This could bring some thundery showers or longer spells of rain here. A few thundery showers in northern Scotland too. For most areas it should be a dry day and very warm. Tops at 27C in southern England, 15C in the showers in northern Scotland and 24C in southeast Ireland.

Monday 29/8/22
A slack pressure flow over the country on Monday. This is likely to be resulting in some slow moving showers developing during the day, most over Ireland, northern and eastern Scotland as well as eastern England. A few showers cannot be ruled out in other places too, although confidence in where these may be is very low. Highs at 16 to 19C along northern and eastern coasts, 26C in southern England and 24C in southern Ireland.

Tuesday 30/8/22
Showers again across northern areas of the British isles, some heavy here and there. Southern parts should be drier, although again there may be some isolated showers. Highs at 16 to 25C.

Wednesday 31/8/22
Higher pressure south and east bringing a dry day with sunny spells here. Some showers in northwest Scotland and the north of Ireland. Highs at 17 to 25C.
