Mixed at first, then drier and warmer but some thunderstorms in the southeast

Some rain in the next few days as low pressure sits west of Scotland. Most rain in the north and west and feeling warm for most. Pressure then builds towards the end of the week and through the weekend. Conditions become drier with good spells of sunshine, although there may be some rain at first in the far southeast.

Thursday 25/8/22
A front persists across the far southeast and East Anglia on Thursday. This brings cloud and rain, some of that rain could be heavy. A ridge of high pressure elsewhere giving dry conditions and plenty of sunshine. Fair too in Ireland, increased cloud in western areas later. Breezy for northwestern Scotland with broken cloud, but fair in most areas with sunny spells. Highs at 28C in southeast England, 15C in northwest Scotland

Friday 26/8/22
Pressure is mostly high across the country on Friday. A weak front gives cloud and some spots of rain in central and eastern Scotland. Brighter and drier in the west with sunny spells. Still a threat of some cloud in the far southeast with rain here. Other areas having broken cloud and bright or sunny spells. A few showers in northwest England. Highs at 28C in the southeast, 16C in the northwest.

Saturday 27/8/22
High pressure settling over the UK and Ireland. Cloud and a chance of a few spots of drizzle for Ireland. Other areas will be dry and bright although always with some broken cloud. Highs at 26C in the south and east, 18C in northwest Scotland and 24C in southern Ireland.

Sunday 28/8/22
High pressure is likely to the west of Ireland on Sunday. Scattered showers in northwest and western Scotland as well as northern parts of Ireland. Brighter for the rest of Scotland, England and Wales as well as southern Ireland. Highs at 17 to 25C.

Monday 29/8/22
High pressure northwest of Scotland on Monday. A northerly flow bringing cloud and some showers or rain to eastern Scotland and eastern England. Brighter west and south with good spells of sunshine here. A cool day in the east at 15 to 18C, 23 to 25C in western and southern areas.

Tuesday 30/8/22
High pressure stays northwest of Scotland. A north to northeast wind bringing cloud and some spots of rain in northern and eastern areas of Scotland and eastern England. Far to the west and south. Highs at 15 to 18C in the east, 22 to 25C in the west and south.
