Unsettled with heavy, thundery showers next week

A hot and mostly dry end of the week and weekend leads into a more unsettled week next week with the prospect of locally heavy and thundery showers developing across the country. Temperatures look to stay very warm and humid for many through much of the week too.

Saturday 13/8/22
High pressure toward the north and northwest continues to pull in an easterly wind, strengthened across the far south. Dry for most places though still more cloud and the risk of some spots of rain in the very far north of Scotland. Plenty of sunshien about though cloud looks to build for many. Some low cloud and drizzle may affect eastern coasts where temperatures would be cooler. Otherwise a hot day again, highs 31 to 35C south, 23 to 28C north.

Sunday 14/8/22
Mist and fog is looking rather prominant across coastal areas of Scotland and northeast England during the morning, some of it taking much of the morning to clear. Rather cloudy generally across Scotland, Northern Ireland and Ireland with scattered showers, some locally heavy and thundery, expected to develop in places here. Meanwhile, much of England and Wales looking to stay dry with sunny spells. Another muggy and hot day for many with highs at 23 to 34C.

Monday 15/8/22
Low pressure has moved in and this will see showers develop widely across the country, some likely to be heavy and thundery, although locally hit and miss, moving around slowly under light winds. Still very warm, but temperatures easing back with more cloud cover. Highs 23 to 30C, cooler in the far north.

Tuesday 16/8/22
Showers are expected to develop widely across Ireland, Wales and central, southern England on Tuesday, heavy and likely thundery for some. Drier and brighter and fresher across northern England, Northern Ireland and Scotland where there will be more of a breeze. Highs at 17 to 24C in the north, 25 to 30C further south.

Wednesday 17/8/22
Another day of scattered showers developing as the day progresses. Likely to be a mostly dry morning then wetter in the afternoon. Main focus of the heavier showers is across Ireland, England and Wales again today while further north stays largely dry. Highs at 21 to 30C.

Thursday 18/8/22
A band of heavy showers looks to push northwards on Thursday, heavy and perhaps thundery for some across England, Wales and Ireland. Largely dry across Scotland and Northern Ireland. Highs at 22 to 27C.
