Thundery rain next week, but turning fresher from the north

Hot weather continues for a few days. Thundery rain developing on Monday with soe more showery rain on Tuesday as fresher weather arrives in more northern areas. The middle to end of the week are likely to be mixed. Little rain ni the south, but some through Scotland.

Tuesday 16/8/22
A fairly cloudy day on Tuesday, although there will be some bright or sunny spells, notably in parts of the northern Midlands and northern England. A front to the south brings some outbreaks of rain through southern England, whilst another front gives thicker cloud and rain to eastern and southern parts of Scotland. Northern Scotland should be drier with the cloud remaining broken here. Some cloud and patchy rain may affect eastern Ireland, but the rest of Ireland should be dry. Highs at 28C in southeast England, 19C in Ireland, 17C in northern England and 12C in northern Scotland.

Wednesday 17/8/22
An occluded front through central England and Wales may bring some cloud and outbreaks of rain here through Wednesday, before slowly retreating to the south. A ridge of higher pressure builds into Ireland and Scotland bringing drier conditions here with some sunny spells, these edging southwards during the day. Highs at 23C in southern England, 16C in northern Scotland.

Thursday 18/8/22
A few showers in western Scotland on Thursday. Fair for other areas with sunny spells. England and Wales as likely to be mostly dry with sunny spells, although a few showers in west Wales and perhaps some cloud and patchy rain close to the coasts of East Anglia. Highs at 26C in southern England, 16C in northern Scotland.

Friday 19/8/22
An area of rain affecting Ireland and western Scotland on Friday as a front pushes east. This cloud and rain could reach western England and Wales during the day. More eastern and southern areas start sunny and dry, although cloud increases later. Highs at 28C in southeast England, 19C in Ireland.

Saturday 20/8/22
The remnants of the front through southern England on Saturday. This brings som cloud here with a chance of an odd spot of rain. Most other areas should be drier and brighter, although showers affecting western Scotland. Highs at 18C in northern Scotland, 26C in central and southern England.

Sunday 21/8/22
Fair in southern areas with sunny spells for Sunday. Cloud, wind and patchy rain across central and northern Scotland. Tops at 17 to 26C.
