Very warm south, cooler north and northwest

Good morning,

Most places will see a fine day with variable cloud and good amounts of sunshine to start the new week.

Central and northern England and Wales may see cloud fill in across the sky for periods, focused on eastern areas by the afternoon. Light winds for most, a gentle westerly breeze for northern areas.

Southern counties generally sunnier and coastal areas toward the south and west will see extensive sunshine much of the day. Sea breezes forming keeping things fresher on the beaches.

Scotland and Northern Ireland will have a fair amount of high cloud, thicker cloud toward northwest Scotland producing a little rain or drizzle, becoming more persistent here later. A generally wet and murky day for the Outer Hebrides with fresh southwesterly winds.

Today's top temperatures approaching 30C inland over southern Englnad, 27C for the Midlands, 25C in south Wales through Yorkshire and northeast England, 19 to 22C for the northwest and Northern Ireland. 21C for central Scotland, but only 14C in northwestern Scotland.

Have a great day.
Garry
