Morning Call - August 15, 2022
Humid, local storms
A wet day for Scotland

Issued: 0530hrs Monday 15th August 2022
Duty forecaster: Garry Nicholson

Highest temperatures eastern England

Good morning,

The heatwave is beginning to break down as we begin the new week and thunderstorms will become a bigger part of the forecast in the next couple of days.

For Monday, much of England and Wales will stay dry, feeling hot and humid with hazy sunshine and varied high cloud. However, be aware of scattered thunderstorms forming, these locally giving intense downpours. Some coastal fog in the east and south.

A broader swathe of rain affects Scotland much of the day, associated with a slow-moving frontal system, this also producing some thundery bursts mixed in. It will be cooler in the west and rather windy near to western coasts.

Areas of rain and thundery bursts over southern Ireland, but Northern Ireland will be drier with patchy rain or local heavy showers.

Today's top temperatures will likely breach 30C again across east and southeast England. Around 28C for the Midlands, but lower at 21 to 24C further west over England and Wales under thicker cloud. Scotland only 14 to 17C under rain, 22C in the east. 19 to 22C across Ireland.

Have a great day.
Garry
