Wet and breezy Ireland, drier across the UK but rain in west later

Scattered showers affecting eastern parts of England to start this morning. These should be fading. many areas will have some cloud, but some bright or sunny spells too. Thicker cou in Ireland bringing rain to the west, this edges eastwards through the morning and may be heavy at times in western areas. Strong winds in Ireland too.

This afternoon sees things staying wet and rather windy in Ireland, the rain reaching western Scotland and western Wales, before moving into northwest England by evening. Drier in southern and eastern areas with some sunshine in central and eastern areas until the end of the day. Warm in southern England at 28C in the sunshine, cooler though in Ireland and western Scotland.

Rain and breezy weather spread east quickly this evening across Scotland, northern England and the north and west of Wales. Staying damp throughout the night in northern England, Wales and much of Ireland, Drier in southern England. Mist and fog on western coasts and hills. Becoming fresher in Scotland, but breezy as rain clears east and north, some showers in the west.
