Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Windy and mixed with rain, sleet and snow, but some sunshine, windy too

A windy morning as low pressure clears east of the UK. There will be some outbreaks of rain affecting northern England, although this falling as sleet and snow in central and eastern Scotland. Showers this morning in Wales and much of Ireland, but becoming brighter and drier in the southeast.

This afternoon brings rain down the eastern coasts and strong winds here with a risk of gales. Further snow showers in northern and eastern Scotland as well as the far northeast of England. A band of rain, sleet and snow slipping south through Wales, the Midlands and East Anglia, and then into southern England.

Tonight sees some snow showers in northern Scotland, a few along eastern coasts of England and Scotland too. Some broken cloud nd a few showers in Ireland, Wales and western England. Dry for other areas with some clear skies and a frost.
