More cloud in east with possible light rain later

A cloudy day in the east, best of any bright and sunny weather centrally or further west, although mist and fog is expected here too. Staying dry.

The afternoon sees cloud thicken in the east with the risk of some spots of light rain affecting easternmost counties as well as through southern coastal regions of England later in the day.

Overnight, expect a few spots of rain to continue to affect easternmost counties of England and Scotland as well as southern English coasts. Any showers turning wintry over the higher ground further north. Elsewhere, it will be dry with some clear skies in the west where it is more likely for some frost to form, but plenty of cloud, mist and fog developing elsewhere.
