Week ahead - June 13, 2019
Warmer next week
Rain occasionally

Issued: 1000hrs Thursday 13th June 2019
Duty forecaster: Garry Nicholson

Tentative improvements

Low pressure stays in charge this weekend, with some further heavy showers expected for most places. Pressure tends to build into next week, and a warmer south to southwesterly airflow will develop. There may be spells of rain through midweek, but the overall pattern should be drier for the week as a whole.

Sunday 16/06/19
A southwesterly breeze affects the British Isles, and low pressure is nearby, resulting in a day of sunshine and showers for many places. Rain may be frequent around western coasts from the word go, whilst some heavy and locally thundery downpours will advance eastwards across the country into the afternoon. Some sunshine, best in the east. A brisk breeze, gusty near showers. Highs 14 to 20C.

Monday 17/06/19
Another showery day, with an unstable southwesterly airflow influencing Britain and Ireland. Frequent bursts of rain for the northwest, often raining over western hills of Scotland and Cumbria. Showers developing across England & Wales into the afternoon, spreading eastwards. Heavy bursts for some, but quite hit and miss. Driest in the far southeast. Windy for most. Highs 14 to 21C, warmest southeast.

Tuesday 18/06/19
Higher pressure builds across southern Britain, meaning many places will be drier overall. A few showers and staying breezy toward the northwest of Britain and Ireland. A risk of some frequent rain in northwest Scotland. Sunshine more widespread for central, south and eastern England. Feeling warmer with lighter winds. Small chance of rain coming back into the far southwest. Highs 15 to 22C.

Wednesday 19/06/19
Low confidence of details. Some suggestions point at areas of rain coming back across the British Isles from the southwest, possibly heavy in southern regions. However, a chance the rain may be localised or patchy in nature, leaving some areas still dry, likely best in the north. Highs 16 to 22C.

Thursday 20/06/19
A scattering of showers is possible later in the week, but mixed with a good amount of dry weather as pressure builds from the west. Highs 16 to 23C.

Friday 21/06/19
Many places may end the week dry as high pressure builds from the southwest. A few showers mostly in the north. Feeling warm, highs 17 to 23C.
