Week ahead - November 24, 2019
Unsettled, wet & milder
Becoming colder next week

Issued: 0900 Sunday 24th November 2019
Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

Wet and windy, milder through the first half of the week but then cooler later

An unsettled period of weather persisting through the first half of the week. Temperatures will be staying milder as more persistent rain brings the risk of some flooding. Colder temperatures and drier conditions arrive from the north through the middle of the week and persist through the end of the week and the weekend.

Wednesday 27/11/19
Low pressure is over the UK and Ireland again on Wednesday. Rain and strong winds, probably most rain over Scotland and northern England. More southern areas should be drier with some bright or sunny spells. Breezy to the west, north and south; coastal gales possible. High temperatures at 8 to 12C.

Thursday 28/11/19
It may become cooler in northern areas as low pressure moves to the east. Sunny spells and heavy showers to the far north and south, these turning to sleet and snow over the hills of Scotland and becoming increasingly confined to eastern areas through the day. Drier to the west. Highs at 6 to 11C.

Friday 29/11/19
Friday may see high pressure briefly build bringing a mostly dry and bright day to the UK and Ireland. Showers affecting North Sea coasts at times. Cloud and rain arrive to the southwest later. High temperatures at 5 to 10C.

Saturday 30/11/19
Saturday could see an area of low pressure arrive to the south. Confidence is low but this would lead to further outbreaks of rain for southern areas and a drier, brighter day for much of Ireland, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and northern England. Highs at 3 to 7C.

Sunday 01/12/19
Confidence remains low but high pressure to the west could maintain a cold northerly flow over the country. A mostly dry and bright day though showers, some wintry, affecting Scotland and North Sea coasts. High temperatures at 2 to 6C.

Monday 02/12/19
High pressure may get squeezed to the southeast allowing lower pressure to bring outbreaks of heavy rain and strong winds to northwestern areas. Drier and brighter to the southeast. High temperatures at 2 to 6C.
