A mixed week with rain and windy weather at times, mostly in the north and west

The mixed weather continues through this week and into the weekend. With the jet stream close by there will be rain at times, mostly to the north and west. More southern and eastern areas tending to be drier. A marked contrast in temperatures with warm weather in the south anf east, cooler and fresher to the north. It may be windy at times in northern areas too.

Thursday 16/8/18
Rain affecting southeastern England and the eastern Midlands at first on Thursday as a cold front slips away. The risk of an odd crack of thundery too. Brighter and fresher weather follows into the north and west bringing sunny spells but also some showers. Most showers on western coasts and hills of Scotland and Ireland, some heavy. Highs at 24C in southeast England, 15 to 18C in most other areas.


Friday 17/8/18
A ridge of high pressure over the south of the UK on Friday with low pressure affecting the north and Ireland. Mainly dry and warm in England and eastern Wales. Low cloud affecting some western coasts of Wales. Fronts brings rain and cloud to the north coasts of Ireland and western Scotland. Breezy for western Ireland and Scotland. Highs at 24C in the south and east, 15C in northern Scotland.


Saturday 18/8/18
Fronts trailing through Ireland and Scotland as wellas northwest England on Saturday. Low pressure stays to the north with higher pressure to the south. Cloud and rain along the fronts with drizzle affecting many western coasts and hills of Wales and southwest England. Drier, brighter and warmer in southern and southeast England. Fresher and breezier in Scotland with sunny spells and a scattering of showers. Highs at 25C in southeast England, 14C in northern Scotland.


Sunday 19/8/18
Pressure tends to build on Sunday. Cloud may extend through Ireland, western and north Wales as well as northern England with drizzle in the west. More persistent rain in western Ireland. Dry and bright to the north and south of the front. Rather humid. Highs at 26C in southern England, still fresher at 16C in northern Scotland.


Monday 20/8/18
Low pressure is expected to be close to Ireland and Scotland on Monday. This brings cloud and some periods of rain to these areas, breezy too. Drier for most eastern and southern parts, although always the risk of some low cloud and patchy rain on western coasts and hills. Highs at 27C in southeast England, 15C in Northern Ireland and western Scotland.

Tuesday 21/8/18
Mixed on Tuesday with the threat of some showers in northern and western areas. Tending to be drier o the south and east. Highs at 17 to 24C.
