Chilly with plenty of cloud then turning more unsettled

Staying generally chilly through the coming week as low pressure tries to move eastwards from the Atlantic. It is likely that the next few days are rather dull with some drizzle or rain at times. Probably turning more unsettled as we get into the weekend and early next week with the westerly winds returning. Staying chilly.

Thursday 11/1/18
A ridge of higher pressure is expected to be building through the UK and Ireland on Thursday. This probably allows for rather a misty or even foggy start. Some patchy rain in eastern and southern areas. Probably turning brighter during the day from the west with temperatures around a cooler 4 to 6C.

Friday 12/1/18
Cloud and rain in Ireland on Friday with stronger winds here as fronts push in from the Atlantic. Higher pressure to the east will bring drier weather for much of the UK with some brighter spells. Highs at 4C in the east, 8C in the west.

 
 
 

Saturday 13/1/18
Lower pressure brings some outbreaks of rain through Saturday, again most in the west and also in Scotland and northern England. Less rain in the east although cloudy here. Highs at 5 to 8C.

 
 
 

Sunday 14/1/18
Probably wetter and more windy on Sunday as low pressure pushes fronts eastwards. Follows from the west will be sunnier spells and some showers. There is a risk of snow over the Scottish Hills. Highs at 2 to 8C.

Monday 15/1/18
Low pressure to the west of Scotland on Monday. This brings a day of sunny spells and showers, some of them wintry on the hills in the west. Highs at 2 to 6C.

Tuesday 16/1/18
Pressure remains low through Tuesday. There is a risk of some rain turning to sleet or snow in more southern areas, although confidence in this is low at this time. Sunny spells and showers in Scotland and Ireland. Highs at 2 to 6C.
