Broken ploughed through Wednesday morning across many parts of the country. There will be a thicker cloud affecting eastern areas with a risk of some fog on coasts. The best of any sunshine in western Scotland and Northern Ireland. An area of showery rain affects southern Wales and southern England. This will be moving eastwards through the Midlands and into East Anglia and southeast England through the afternoon. Further low cloud and some fog patches affecting eastern coasts of England, the best sunshine still for western Scotland and Ireland. Highs at a cold 6C over coasts of northeast England, 13C in southern England.

Wednesday Night
Outbreaks of rain across much of the southern half of England tonight. This will gradually fade from western areas as the night progresses. A further area of showery rain will move into North East Scotland. Fog patches and low cloud along eastern coast of England, bringing a few outbreaks of drizzle here. Drier in the west with clearer sies developing. Lows near 2 to 4C.

Thursday
Thursday is set to be a cold day for many. A cold front will be bringing a few showery outbreaks of rain to Scotland, northern and eastern England through the morning. This then edges south into the Midlands and East Anglia as well as Northern Ireland through the afternoon. Broken cloud and mostly dry further south with a few bright spells. Sunny skies arriving through Scotland and north east England. Yet colder air will follow with the brighter skies in the north. Highs at 4C in northeast Scotland, widely 6 to 8C, but 10C in southwest England and southwest Ireland.

Friday
A cold day with high pressure is centred over the British Isles on Friday. This brings plenty of dry weather with sunny spells, although a widespread morning frost is likely. Always more cloud affecting eastern coasts of England with the best of any sunshine in western parts of Wales and Scotland. Some cloud in western and southern Ireland bringing one or two showers here. Highs at 5 to 7C.
