Rain in far west, mostly dry with sunny spells in the east

Some brightness in the east of Scotland and England at first this morning, well broken cloud and some sunny spells., Always more cloud further west and there wil be an arrea of rain in western Ireland which edges east through the morning. A scattering of showers could affect Wales and northwest England too.

This afternoon sees the rain continuing to affect western and southern Ireland, reaching southwest Wales and southwest England. Further showers in north wales and northwest England. Dry for most other areas with the best sunshine in Scotland as well as through central and eastern England.

Tonight sees the band of rain turning increasingly patchy as it moves through England and Wales. Showers in west Wales and along the coasts of southwest England. More persistent rain in southwest Ireland. Some heavy bursts of rain developing across western Scotland, although the rain patchy in central and eastern Scotland.
