Very windy into Sunday

Saturday
A breezy and showery day across western Britain, some locally heavy bursts for Wales may contain a rumble of thunder. Showers extending into central England, but well scattered further to the east. Fairly cloudy, some sunshine at times. Early rain and low cloud in Scotland clears northwards to leave brighter skies and scattered heavy showers. Showery for Northern Ireland too. Highs 15 to 20C.

Saturday night
Many places will be dry, although some showers continue near western coasts. A risk of rain for southeastern coasts for a time too. Showery rain for central and eastern Scotland, locally persistent over the Grampians. Some clear skies in central counties of England. Blustery winds, strongest near to western coasts, up to gale force in exposed spots. Lows 8 to 12C.

Sunday
Low pressure centred over Ireland brings an unsettled day with strong winds for much of England and Wales, gales over hills and around coasts in the west and south. Rain affects western areas, some sustained heavy falls from Wales to Cumbria and southwest Scotland. A few showery bursts running into central areas. Mostly dry for east and southeast England, also northern Scotland. Highs 14 to 20C.

Monday
Showery bursts of rain will advance north and east across most places during the day. Chance of local thunder.
