A mixed week is expected with spells of rain, particularly across the north, with drier conditions forecast for the southern half of the UK.

A breezy and unsettled end to the week and weekend is forecast across particularly the northern and northwestern parts of the UK, fairing drier further south. A brief drier spell could be on the cards come early on into next week.

Friday 3/7/20
Friday will see an Atlantic low push in from the west, bringing windy conditions as well as spells of rain, some heavy and persistent in the north and west including southwest England, Ireland as well as Wales. The south does look to stay mainly dry although on that brisk west to southwesterly wind blustery showers are likely to reach central places across England. Best of any sunny spells will be in the southeast of England. Highs around 14 to 18C generally with the southeast fairing warmer at 21C.

Saturday 4/7/20
The low pressure will track eastwards across the Northern Isles on Saturday and a band of rain will sweep southwards down the country. The rain is expected to clear northern parts through the morning with sunny spells yet blustery showers developing across Scotland, northern England as well as Northern Ireland and Ireland through the afternoon. Rain becoming light and patchy across England and Wales through the day and eventually clearing the south coast later on. Drier weather expected behind here. Cool in the northwest at 13 to 16C, elsewhere highs at 16 to 20C.

Sunday 5/7/20
A windy day is expected as a brisk westerly wind blows across the UK on Sunday. The next area of low pressure and associated bands of rain will affect northern England, Scotland as well as Northern Ireland and much of Ireland today with a possible exception to the far south of Ireland. Drier and brighter elsewhere although cloudier skies across Wales and central England through the afternoon. Highs at 14 to 18C generally but in the best of the sunshine across the southeast temperatures rising to 23C. Southern Ireland could reach 20C if sunny spells prolong here also.

Monday 6/7/20
Low pressure is forecast to move away and more over Scandinavia with showery outbreaks of rain affecting northern and western parts of the UK mainly. Heavy spells of rain are forecast to pass through the Northern Isles and north of mainland Scotland at times. The far south once again fairing the drier conditions. Highs at 14 to 18C in the north and 17 to 21C in the south.

Tuesday 7/7/20
A largely dry day is currently forecast for Tuesday as a ridge of high pressure nudges up from the Azores. Cloudier skies with some rain is expected across northern and northeastern Scotland as a trailing front pushes slowly away from here. A scattering of showers elsewhere but generally an improving picture. Highs around 15 to 20C. Cooler in the far north.

Wednesday 8/7/20
Dry for a time before the next Atlantic low pressure moves in bringing spells of rain to the north and western half of the UK, heaviest in the west. The south still seeing the affects of the high pressure will receive the best of any drier and sunnier conditions. Highs around 14 to 19C in the north and 16 to 21C in the south.
