Fresher and windier by weekend

A southerly airflow will bring hot and sunny conditions through midweek. This is expected to break into scattered thunderstorms by the end of the week, before fresher air returns from the Atlantic by the weekend.

Thursday 25/06/20
High pressure to the east of Britain promotes a very warm and humid southeasterly airflow. Many places dry all day with lots of sunshine. Some hazy high cloud. A risk of localised showers breaking out in Scotland. Temperatures rising to 25 to 30C, highest temperatures in central-southern England. Much cooler around eastern coasts with a fresh breeze off the North Sea.

Friday 26/06/20
Precise detail and timing is uncertain, but bursts of rain are expected to move north from Biscay and France into Britain and Ireland. These may be very hit and miss, but bring a risk of thunderstorms, particularly afternoon into evening, tracking northeastwards with time. Ahead of this, another hot and humid feeling day, with highs of 24 to 29C, warmest in central-eastern England.

Saturday 27/06/20
Fresher air returns from the southwest as the remnants of previous thundery rain clears away northeastwards. Low pressure toward the northwest brings a windy day for northern areas. Showery rain will likely move across western and northern areas. Drier toward central and southern England. Highs 18 to 24C.
 

Sunday 28/06/20
Pressure is likely to build again from the south. A few showers may continue to affect Scotland, whilst many places should be dry with sunny spells. Lighter winds, but staying breezy in the north. Highs 17 to 25C, warmest southeast.

Monday 29/06/20
High pressure to the southeast maintains dry weather for many, but low pressure to the west may bring some rain back into Ireland and western Scotland. Highs 18 to 25C.

Tuesday 30/06/20
Confidence of detail is low, but a risk of rain at times in the northwest, whilst central and southern areas may be generally dry. Highs 17 to 25C.
