Some heavy rain northwest

High pressure will build across the British Isles during the week ahead, with south to southwesterly airflows prevailing. Drier conditions will become established, particularly in central and eastern areas, whilst the north and west will see rain for a time early in the week. Temperatures rising into the upper 20s.

Monday 22/06/20
High pressure across southeastern Britain brings a dry, sunny and warm day to much of England and Wales. Fronts draped across western Scotland and Ireland will produce cloud and rain, heaviest for the West Highlands. Largely dry toward northeast Scotland. Some cloud and patchy rain may drift onto Irish Sea coasts of Wales and Cumbria. Breezy in the northwest, light winds southeast. Highs 18 to 24C.


Tuesday 23/06/20
A frontal system is likely to remain over northwestern Britain and Ireland, with areas of rain and low cloud, some heavy bursts for a time. Some uncertainty about the extent of rain into northwest England. Central & southern England & Wales more likely dry, with sunshine best in east & southern counties. A southerly breeze, strongest in the west. Highs 16 to 20 west & north, 23 to 27C Midlands & southeast.


Wednesday 24/06/20
Remnants of fronts are likely to clear with scattered bursts of rain across northern Britain for a time. Largely dry across central and southern Britain. Plenty of sunshine, hot and feeling quite humid in the Midlands and southeast. Chance of a thundery downpour locally by evening. Temperatures ranging from 16 to 20C in the north & west, up to 25C in the Midlands, and 28 or 29C in the southeast.


Thursday 25/06/20
High pressure rebuilds from the southwest, with plenty of dry, sunny and warm weather across the country. Probably less hot and less humid. Cloud and a little rain may skirt the far northwest of the British Isles where a southwesterly breeze is stronger. Highs 17 to 26C, warmest southeast England.

Friday 26/06/20
High pressure stays nearby, with mainly dry conditions for much of Britain. A chance of some rain coming back into northwestern areas off the Atlantic. Generally warm with sunshine. Highs 20 to 28C, warmest south & east.

Saturday 27/06/20
A risk of some rain west and northern Britain and Ireland, but many places are likely to stay dry with hot sunshine. Southerly breezes. Highs 23 to 30C.
