Morning Call - June 30, 2020
Cooler
Rain about

Issued: 0530hrs Tuesday 30th June 2020
Duty forecaster: Alexi Venerus

A chilly and largely wet day today for many, heaviest and more prolonged spells of rain across the northern and western half of the UK and Ireland, particularly affecting parts of Scotland. The south of England and Ireland as well as Wales, starting largely dry, will become wet through the day too.

Good morning,

On that chilly northerly breeze expect outbreaks of rain across Scotland, some heavy and more widespread across northern and central areas, northern England and Northern Ireland through the morning. Largely dry with patchy cloud elsewhere, although the southwest of England and southern Ireland will see thicker cloud and rain spreading in from the west.

Through the afternoon, outbreaks of rain will continue to affect much of Scotland, heaviest still in the north and over central parts aswell as over Northern Ireland. Drier across much of England but the rain and cloudier skies in the southwest will continue to spread into Wales and further east across southern England. The rain in the north and west is forecast to become more isolated through the evening.

Overnight, rain will gradually clear the far south but linger over the southeast corner, perhaps briefly becoming more persistent and heavier. Further north and across central parts will be largely dry, however, northern and eastern coasts of Scotland, Northern Ireland and Ireland as well as western Wales will see showery rain hold on to these places. The rain could turn more persistent in southern Scotland later in the night.
