Windy, rain & showers
Snow Scotland early Thursday

Thursday
A cold morning across the UK and Ireland. There will be a scattering of wintry showers in northern and eastern Scotland as well as eastern England. Windy in eastern areas at first too. A ridge of high pressure builds from the west and this will be bringing drier, brighter weather for most. Good spells of sunshine in the afternoon, best in the west. Cloud increasing in western Ireland later as a warm front approaches. Rain arriving to the far west through the evening. Highs at a chilly 4 to 9C.

Thursday night
Cloud continues to build from the west over Ireland and the UK overnight with rain spreading across Ireland, Northern Ireland, Wales, western Scotland and northwest England by morning. A milder night for Ireland and Northern Ireland with lows of 5 to 10C, staying chilly across Great Britain with lows at a chillier 0 to 4C for most, sub-zero temperatures for more rural areas.

Friday
Fronts passing east through Ireland and the UK on Friday. These bring lots of cloud and periods of rain, most of them patchy. More persistent rain affecting northwest England and western Scotland, heaviest here too. It is going to be breezy too with very little change through the day though it does tend drier for most by evening. Tending to become milder too in the evening after a cool start. Highs at 7 to 11C.

Saturday
Rather cloudy for southeast Ireland, Wales and England on Saturday as a front passes south over this region bringing patchy outbreaks of rain. Brighter for Scotland, Northern Ireland and, later, for Ireland and northern England though showers will affect western coasts and hills. A milder day in the south at 11 or 12C, but still cool in the north at 6 to 8C.
