Easter Monday
A much colder day for all on Monday with a sharp early frost and patches of ice expected across Scotland and into northern England. Through the day expect sunny spells and showers, these will be wintry in nature for many, particularly in the north. The showers will be most frequent across northern, northwestern and eastern coasts and hills. Breezy too with coastal gales. Staying cloudier to the southwest where highs will reach 7C. Temperatures more widely ranging from 4 to 6C, though parts of Scotland could see the mercury struggle to hit 2C.

Monday Night
Mostly clear skies overnight from Monday to Tuesday allowing temperatures to plummet. Scattered wintry showers widely affect northern and western areas as well as coastal regions further south though staying dry for much of central and southern England. Breezy with coastal gales. Overnight lows widely below freezing at -5 to -1C, colder in more rural areas allowing for a widespread frost and ice patches to form.

Tuesday
High pressure west of Ireland with low pressure to the east of the UK will maintain a brisk, cold northerly flow over the British Isles. Northern and eastern areas will feel especially cold where the wind-chill factor will be most acutely felt. Showers will also be widespread, these falling as a mixture of rain, sleet and snow. These heaviest and most persistent across northern and central Scotland as well as over the hills of northern England and north Wales. Highs around 2C in the north rising to 8C in southwest Ireland.

Wednesday
A chilly day on Wednesday. Sunshine and some showers about, these again are likely to be wintry with snow over higher ground and towards the north and east. A brief ridge of high pressure builds in from the southwest and push eastwards seeing showers largely die out for a time across parts of England and Wales. Further north, the next low pressure system moves in from the Atlantic bringing rain and strengthening winds to northwestern areas during the afternoon. Highs at 5 to 9C.
