Thursday
Plenty of cloud across much of the country for Thursday. The cloud will be low and increasingly bring drizzle and some mist to western coasts and hills. More central and eastern areas of England are going to be staying mainly dry, and there will be some morning sunshine in the southeast and through southern coasts of England. More persistent rain in northern Scotland, where it turns brighter later. A windy day in Scotland and northern England as well as Northern Ireland, gales in the far north. Highs at a milder 6C in northern Scotland, 11C in southern England.

Thursday Night
A cold front will be sinking southwards overnight, bringing a band of cloud and outbreaks of showery rain through Scotland and Northern Ireland and then into northern England, northern and western Wales later in the night. Clearer skies and drier weather follow to most of Scotland and Northern Ireland, although some showers over northern coasts and hills. Dry and cloudy in central and southern England and Wales. Lows at -4C in central Scotland, 2 to 6C elsewhere.

Friday
A cold front becomes slow moving over the Midlands, southern England, Wales and southern Ireland on Friday. Lots of cloud here with some showery outbreaks of rain, with little change through the day. A fresher, brighter day in Northern Ireland, northern England and Scotland with some showers. These showers are most likely in northern Scotland where they will be wintry on the hills in the north. Highs at 4 to 8C generally, but still mild in the far south of England at 12C.

Saturday
Low pressure to the south of the UK will be bringing cloud and periods of rain across southeast England on Saturday. Some cloud and a few showers affecting much of Wales, the Midlands and northern England. Drier and brighter elsewhere with sunny spells, although still a risk of some showers in the north. A chilly day for all. Highs at 6C in southern England, 8C in northern England and 5C in northern Scotland.
