Rain north and west
Sunshine too

Friday
Cloud cover will thicken through the morning across northern and western areas and patchy, light rain will push into far western fringes of Scotland and Ireland during the afternoon. Across England and Wales it will remain dry and continue to see sunny spells but cloud will gradually build here too. Best of the lasting sunshine is expected in far eastern regions and the southeast of England. Highs 11 to 14C, but cooler around North Sea coasts.

Friday night
Overnight, cloudier skies will continue across Northern Ireland and Ireland with patchy light rain affecting some western coasts. Scotland will remain largely dry with clearing skies although the Western Isles could see continued drizzle. England and Wales will see clear spells and dry conditions. Lows between 0 and -2C across parts of England with lows generally between 0 and 3C elsewhere.

Saturday
Staying dry overall with a good deal of sunshine, particularly across south and southeast England. Cloud building across northern and western areas through the afternoon. An area of low pressure over the Atlantic brings rain to the west of Ireland, which will extend into the far west of Scotland later. An east to southeasterly breeze, strongest in western regions. A frosty start, but becoming pleasantly warm by afternoon in sunshine. Chilly on eastern coasts. Highs 12 to 15C inland.

Sunday
It will be a cloudier day for all on Sunday. Fronts encroaching in from the west bring some outbreaks of rain to Scotland, northern England, Ireland, northern Ireland and parts of Wales, mostly light, but may become persistent and heavier for west and southwest Scotland for a time. A fresh southerly breeze in the north and west, lighter breezes for central and southern England. Highs 13 to 16C, cooler in the west in rain.
