Issued: 0530hrs Sunday 5th April 2020
Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

Outbreaks of rain and strong winds spread across Ireland through the morning, reaching western parts of the UK later. Much of the UK staying dry with good spells of sunshine across England though these become increasingly limited to the southeast as the day progresses.

Good Morning,

The day starts cloudy across Ireland with patchy rain and strong winds spreading across the country through the morning. Cloud builds over Northern Ireland and western Scotland too through the morning with a slight chance of showers developing here too. Winds also pick up here reaching gale force for exposed locations. For much of Scotland, England and Wales though the day starts bright and dry with the best of the sunshine to the far east and southeast.

Cloud continues to build and winds continue to rise from the west through Sunday afternoon with some heavy bursts of rain developing over Ireland and Northern Ireland. Later some patchy rain spreads into western Scotland, western Wales and into the southwest of England too. Winds pick up too in these areas with coastal gales expected. Cloud increases over central and eastern areas with the sunshine becoming increasingly hazy. The best of any sunny spells confined to the far southeast of England.

Rain eases for Ireland and Northern Ireland through the evening but spreads further across western parts of Britain. Staying very windy for western and northern areas with coastal gales. Cloud continues to build across the UK and the best of any evening brightness will be limited to southeast England.

Have a good day!

Claire
