A warm week for many but cooler in Scotland, rain and drizzle at times in the north and west

Staying warm or even very warm in the south of the UK and Ireland during the coming week, always tending to be cooler in Scotland. There will be periods of rain and drizzle affecting western and northern areas, although the south and east tends to be on the drier side. Breezy in Scotland on some days.

Saturday 18/8/18
Fronts trailing through Ireland, Scotland and northwest England on Saturday. Cloud and rain along the fronts with drizzle affecting many western coasts and hills of Wales and southwest England. Drier, brighter and warmer in southern and southeast England. Fresher and breezier in Scotland with sunny spells and a scattering of showers. Highs at 25C in southeast England, 14C in northern Scotland.

Sunday 19/8/18
An area of lower pressure crosses Scotland on Sunday. This takes some rain with it, clearing east. Brighter elsewhere with a mix of sunshine and scattered showers on western coasts and hills. Highs at 25C in southern England, 16C in northern Scotland.


 
 
 

Monday 20/8/18
Weak fronts give a rather cloudy day to the whole of Ireland and much of southern Scotland and western coasts of Wales and western England. More northern areas of Scotland the the east of England should be drier and brighter with some sunny spells. Highs at 26C in southeast England, 15C in Scotland but muggy for many.
 

Tuesday 21/8/18
An area of low pressure pushes a front and some rain through Scotland, Ireland and into the west of England Wales later. Drier in the east and south with sunny spells. Feeling warm here too. Rather breezy with highs at 25C in southeast England, 16C in western Scotland and western Ireland.

Wednesday 22/8/18
It is likely to that showers affect western Scotland and Ireland on Wednesday, although there is uncertainty in the forecast. More eastern and southern areas are likely to be drier with higher pressure building here. Highs at 16 to 23C.

Thursday 23/8/18
Low confidence again on Thursday. Showers could affect northern and western areas, but drier to the east. Highs at 18 to 24C.
