Windy at times

Saturday will be a wet and cold day for central and southern England and Wales. High pressure will then build to give a brighter day on Sunday, but some early fog and frost is possible. Next week brings a surge of very warm air in from the south-west, before the remnants of Hurricane Leslie is then expected to push very wet and windy weather into Ireland and western Britain by midweek onward.

Sunday 07/10/18
A ridge of high pressure topples across Britain and Ireland, bringing a fair day to many places with good sunny spells. Remnants of rain from Saturday may affect the far south of England in the morning, but will clear. A fresh north-easterly wind will affect south-eastern coasts. Meanwhile, a freshening south-westerly will affect the north & west of Britain & Ireland, reaching gale force some coasts and over the hills. Rain moves into western Scotland, becoming heavy. Highs 10 to 15C.

Monday 08/10/18
A south-westerly pattern influences the British Isles, allowing temperatures to rise. A lot of low cloud around western coasts and hills, with rain or drizzle, most persistent in western Scotland, also the north-west of Ireland. Staying dry for the Midlands, south and east of England. Also little or no rain for eastern Scotland. Breezy for all, possible gales locally, gusty around hills. Highs 12 to 17C, warmest in eastern districts.

Tuesday 09/10/18
A south to southwesterly airflow will bring some very warm air across the country during midweek. High pressure lies to the east, whilst frontal systems will affect Ireland and north-western Britain, bringing a risk of heavy and persistent rain. Some low cloud for west Wales and south-west England. A good deal of sunshine for central-eastern England. Up to 20C in the east, nearer 13 to 15C west & north-west.

Wednesday 10/10/18
A continued southerly pattern maintains very warm conditions through midweek. Breezy with a risk of heavy rain for western Britain and Ireland. Dry for much of England, sunshine best toward the south-east, where temperatures are likely to top 20C. Nearer 13C where rain occurs toward the north-west.

Thursday 11/10/18
Low pressure is forecast to lie west of Britain, with high pressure to the east. A risk of very wet and windy weather for Ireland, perhaps western fringes of Britain. Likely to stay dry and warm in the east, reaching 20C.

Friday 12/10/18
Generally mild or warm, with an ongoing southwesterly pattern. Some further wind and rain may affect the west, but the south and east of Britain should stay dry. Highs 14 to 21C.
