Turning colder at the weekend and next week, risk of snow showers

Mild for all and damp in the north for the next couple of days though the weather is set to turn much colder through this weekend. A northerly wind flow will establish bringing the risk of gales and showers. The showers will be wintry at times over the hills as far south as southern England. Becoming milder through next week although a spell of unsettled weather is likely for all.

Saturday 27/10/18
The British Isles are sandwiched between low pressure over Europe and high pressure over the Atlantic which brings strong northerly winds for all. It will be cold everywhere as Arctic air spreads across the country. Showers around western, northern and eastern coasts, which will fall as sleet and snow on the hills. Elsewhere the day will be dry with sunny spells throughout. Little change during the day. Highs at 6 to 9C.


Sunday 28/10/18
Another cold day although the winds should be easing as a ridge of high pressure extends from the southwest across Ireland and Scotland. Some showers remain for eastern England and eastern Scotland. Drier and brighter to the west with some good spells of sunshine. A few showers also possible for western Wales and Cornwall as well as eastern parts of Ireland. Highs at 7 to 10C.


Monday 29/10/18
Low pressure affects the east of the UK on Monday. The risk of rain for eastern England and eastern Scotland but largely dry and bright to the west. A further area of rain affecting Ireland. Highs at 7 to 11C.

 
 
 


Tuesday 30/10/18
Low pressure across the UK and Ireland on Tuesday. There will be cloud and rain in southern Ireland and the far south of the UK and Ireland. A further area of rain in eastern Scotland. Drier for more western parts. Highs at 9 to 12C.


Wednesday 31/10/18
Low pressure brings rain across southern Ireland, Wales and England together with a brisk southeast wind. Drier in Scotland with sunny spells in the north and west. High temperatures at 12 to 15C.

Thursday 01/11/18
Low pressure is again the dominant feature of the weather on Thursday with rain for Ireland, northwestern Scotland and, later in the day, southern England. Mainly dry elsewhere with the best of the sun for Wales and northern England. Highs at 10 to 13C.
