A cold weekend, mixed overall, then turning milder next week

A cold weekend ahead as low pressure brings northeasterly winds for a day or so. Nights will be chilly with the risk of a touch of frost. By early next week milder air will begin returning, with some warm days in the southeast. Most rain will be in the west of Scotland and Ireland with some drizzle over western coasts and hills, although there will be wtter days too.

Saturday 6/10/18
A ridge of high pressure builds to the west and north on Saturday. This brings much colder weather but with lots of sunshine after a morning frost. Most parts of Scotland and Ireland should be dry, just a low chance of an isolated showers over the Scottish hills. Cloudier skies in England and Wales as a front brings a cold day with rain through the Midlands, Wales and southwest England. The rain reaching the southeast in the late afternoon. Colder for all at 8C in northern Scotland, 14C in southeast England and 10 to 12C for most.


Sunday 7/10/18
Low pressure may continue to bring some rain to the far south of England early on Sunday, but these clearing to the south. A ridge of high pressure builds bringing a cool day for most with sunny spells. Thicker cloud, wind and rain reaching northwest Scotland in the afternoon. Highs around 9 to 14C.

 


Monday 8/10/18
A ridge of high pressure extends through southern Ireland and much of England and Wales on Monday. The day should be fair with sunny spells for most, although some low cloud may affect western coast and hills. A band of rain associated with a front through western Scotland and western Ireland giving stronger winds and rain here. Highs at 19C in southeast England, 11C in northern Scotland.


Tuesday 9/10/18
The ridge of higher pressure is expected to be over central and eastern England on Tuesday. Stronger winds and heavier rain affecting more northern and western areas. Drier in the east and south of England. Temperatures at 20C in the sunshine in the southeast, more widely 10 to 15C.


Wednesday 10/10/18
Low pressure to the west of Ireland with higher pressure east of England. A front will be bringing rain, some of it heavy to much of Scotland, Ireland and perhaps the far west of Wales and western England. Drier in central and eastern areas with plenty of sunshine. Highs at 14 to 21C.

Thursday 11/10/18
A weak front pushing patchy rain and cloud eastwards through the UK. Brighter and drier weather may reach the west as a ridge of higher pressure builds. Temperatures at 12 to 19C.
