Wednesday
An area of cloud and patchy rain affecting northern England and northern Wales as well as the south of Ireland at first this morning. This cloud and patchy rain is associated with a cold front that will be clearing southwards by early afternoon, taking the cloud and patchy rain with it. Following is much brighter and cooler weather. Some good spells of sunshine developing through much of Scotland and Northern Ireland as well as northern England this morning. Staying fair and cool this afternoon in a moderate northwest breeze. Dry for most, although a few showers affecting northern and eastern Scotland, these falling as snow on hills. Highs at 4 to 10C, and tending to feel cooler as the day progresses.

Wednesday Night
A dry night for most areas with some good clear spells. A scattering of showers in central and northern Scotland, these falling as sleet and snow on hills here. Icy roads and pavements in Scotland where showers have fallen. A frost is likely to be forming under the clearer skies. Lows at -3C in central Scotland, more widely -1 to 2C.
 

Thursday
High pressure is expected to be building into Ireland on Thursday. It should be another bright and dry day with good spells of sunshine. There are likely to be a few showers affecting northern and eastern Scotland as well as the far east of England although these will be fading quickly. Overall a cooler and brighter day with lots of sunshine. Highs at a colder 3 to 6C.
 

Friday
A ridge of high pressure bringing a mostly fair day through much of the country. Some good spells of sunshine, especially in central and southern areas, although there may be some early broken coud here. Increased cloud in northern and western Scotland as well as through much of Ireland. Some drizzle around northern and western coasts of Scotland too with the risk of some fog on the hills here. Highs at 5 to 8C.
