Chilly & frosty
Snow & gales in north

Wednesday
Cold and windy in Scotland with some sleet and snow showers in northern and eastern Scotland, although these tending to ease through the day. A few wintry showers in Northern Ireland and across northern and western coasts of Wales too, although these will be clearing. Largely dry and cool for other areas with some sunny spells, perhaps some wintry showers reaching a few eastern English coasts at times. Fine for Ireland, good spells of sunshine and dry too after a morning frost. Highs at 3 to 6C.

Wednesday Night
A largely dry and chilly night with plenty of clear skies about, though cloud will progressively build in the west and will bring some lighter sleet and snow showers. Heavier rain, preceded by some snow, moving in across Ireland and Northern Ireland in the early hours. Lows at 0 to -3C.

Thursday
A windy day for all with gales to the north and west. A front with rain associated with low pressure west of Ireland will push eastwards across the country, and is likely to bring some snow on the preceding edge over the hills of northern England and Scotland. Drier and brighter yet still windy weather follows from the west although some blustery showers, wintry on hills. Highs 4 to 10C.

Friday
Another breezy but largely dry day in central and eastern regions, although some frequent and heavy showers in the west, falling as a mix of rain, sleet and snow, especially on hills. One or two showers may occur in eastern areas too. The showers could merge into longer spells of rain, sleet and snow at times in the west. Highs 3 to 7C.
