Rain and snow
High winds

Friday
Another breezy day with heavy and frequent showers in the west, snow in Scotland and over higher ground elsewhere, many places further east should stay largely dry. A shallow feature does look to run across parts of south Wales into southern English counties bringing more persistent rainfall here through the day, perhaps some snow over higher ground too. A chilly day with highs only around 3 to 7C for most.

Friday Night
A largely dry first half of the night with clear skies for many. Then cloud builds and rain pushes in from the west through the early hours, falling heavy and persistent in the west and as snow over the Highlands and Cairngorms. Winds will strengthen to gale force in places too. Frost towards the east with lows here at around -1 or -2C, but milder further west with lows at around 2 to 5C.

Saturday
An unsettled day with rain spreading east through the morning, clearing much of Scotland by midday then showers, some wintry, affecting western regions being blown in on a brisk wind still. Rain will gradually clear from the north across England and Wales in the afternoon with blustery showers and brighter weather to follow. Winds stong to gale force here. Milder air pushes in through the day from the west with highs reaching to 6 to 11C.

Sunday
A ridge of high pressure builds over the country on Sunday. This brings a dry day for many with sunny spells. Cloud and rain though approaching Ireland and Northern Ireland in the afternoon then on to affect Wales and the southwest late in the day. Winds strengthening again too. Highs at 6 to 9C.
