Strengthening winds
Cooler Sunday

Friday
After a chilly start a warm front will pass east and bring thicker cloud and patchy rain to parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland, northern England and Wales, eventually moving into southwest England. Winds will also strengthen with gales across northern Scotland. Drier further south and east with broken cloud. Becoming milder through the day with highs up to 8 to 11C by the afternoon.

Friday Night
Overnight, winds continue to strengthen with gales more widespread across the north. The weak front clears the southeast with the risk of a few spots of rain here for a time then mainly dry with clear spells behind, though heavy rain will continue to affect northwest Scotland. Lows at a mild 6 to 10C.

Saturday
Low pressure to the north of Scotland continues to bring strong to gale force winds to many. Spells of rain to Scotland, clearing to brighter weather and showers in the afternoon, sleet and snow over hills. Cloud and showery rain pushing into northern England and Ireland, these wintry over hills also. Southern areas will be drier with broken cloud, though patchy drizzle over western coasts and hills. Winds ease off later. Highs at 8 to 12C for most but gradually turning cooler across Scotland.

Sunday
It will start off chilly but quiet for many on Sunday, before an area of low pressure and associated fronts push eastwards across the country strengthening the winds again too. Rain turning increasingly to sleet and snow over the higher ground across Northern Ireland, Scotland, northern England and Wales. Cloudy but mainly dry across central and southern England. Highs at 6 to 9C.
