Heavy showers developing, drier for northern areas

Heavy showers develooping this morning across Wales and southwest England, these drifting into the Midlands and southern England by lunchtime. Drier in most northern and eastern areas with sunny spells, although a few showers in eastern Scotland.

This afternoon sees the heavy, thundery showers affecting much of central and southern England and Wales, although overall it will be drier in northern England apart from a few showers on eastern coasts. Scotland will have showers in the east too but drier in the west. Showers developing in Ireland, heaviest in the east.

Overnight the showers tend to fade, but they may linger for a time in east Anglia and the southeast. Drier for other areas with some mist patches by morning. Sowe rain in western Scotland and western Ireland.
