Pressure builds across southern Britain into midweek, bringing dry and bright weather, but some misty mornings. Northern regions are likely to stay changeable with rain at times.

Monday 02/10/17
A frontal system will advance east across the country, although much uncertainty about the location of the heaviest rain. It may skirt the south coast of England, but it may well extend widely across central Britain for several hours. A clearance should develop from the north-west, with some sunshine breaking through. Showery for Scotland & Northern Ireland, later also northern England. Windy, risk of gales. Feeling cool at 12 to 16C.

Tuesday 03/10/17
Pressure is expected to build from the south-west. Staying breezy, with showers likely for the north & west, possibly merging into frequent rain locally. Sunny spells away from showers. Central & southern England may escape with a largely dry day overall. Feeling cool in a brisk west to north-westerly wind. Top temperatures around 11 to 15C.

Wednesday 04/10/17
A ridge of high pressure is likely to extend across southern Britain, bringing dry and bright weather for many. Fairly cloudy toward the west. A west to south-westerly wind for northern areas brings a risk of showers, perhaps longer spells of rain returning for the western Scotland. Starting cool, but feeling a little warmer by day, highs 12 to 16C.

Thursday 05/10/17
High pressure may still influence the south, whilst fronts are likely to drift across northern Britain. A risk of persistent rain for western Scotland and Northern Ireland, perhaps moving south into north-west England & Wales. Largely dry for the east & south. Highs 12 to 17C.

Friday 06/10/17
A west to south-westerly flow remains likely, bringing showers or frequent rain to the north-west, but a chance that pressure builds further across the country, allowing things to settle. Highs 13 to 17C.

Saturday 07/10/17
High pressure remaining across the south brings fair weather to much of England & Wales, whilst fronts may bring some rain to the Scotland & Northern Ireland. Highs 13 to 17C.
