Turning much colder, a risk over overnight frosts and wintry showers on hills

Temperatures will be falling quickly at the end of this week, quite a shock after the warmth for most in the past couple of days. There will be some showers developing into next week around coast and hills exposed to the northerly wind, and there is a risk of those showers to any wintry over northern hills. Overnight frost could occur.

Good Friday 2/4/21
High-pressure stays to the west of Scotland on Friday. This brings lots of dry weather across all parts of the UK and Ireland. There will also be plenty of sunshine. Little changes expected through the day apart from perhaps a few areas of clouds drifting around northern coast of Scotland and eastern coast of England. The best sunshine always tend to be in western areas. A chilly day after a morning frost for many, highs at 8 to 13C.

Saturday 3/4/21
Pressure remains high on Saturday. This brings another dry day with sunny spells, after a morning frost for many. There will be some cloud here and there but this will be broken and the sun will come through. Highs at 11 to 13C.

Easter Sunday 4/4/21
A fair day for many parts of central and southern England and Wales on Easter Sunday. Cloud will tend to increase after morning sunshine. A band of cloud and rain with Southeast Scotland and into central and Northern Ireland bringing a few spots of rain. For the rest of Scotland it will become brighter but there will be showers and some of these may be heavy, turning wintry on hills. Increasingly breezy, especially in the north. Highs at 3C in northern Scotland, 17C in southern England.

Holiday Monday 5/4/21
A cold day for all on Monday with a widespread, sharp early frost. There will be sunny spells, but also a risk of showers affecting western, northern and eastern coast. The showers will be most frequent in northern Scotland where they could fall of snow even at low levels. Highs at 2 to 7C.

Tuesday 6/4/21
Another cold day on Tuesday. Scattered showers again affecting western, northern and eastern coast. The risk of some more persistent rain in the east at times. Other areas should be dry although with a fair amount of cloud. Highs at 3 to 7C.

Wednesday 8/4/21
Periods of showers affecting eastern and southern areas through today, drier in the north and west. Highs at 5 to 9C.
