Some rain and sleet for Scotland, drier in the south overall, mild in the south too

Lots of dry weather again this week, although there will be rain, sleet and some hill snow affecting Scotland on some days. Temperaures remain mild for most areas, although in Scotland it is likely to be cooler in the far north, with slightly cooler weather for all next week.

Friday 17/2/23
An area of low pressure passes to the north of Scotland bringing strong winds. Rain in northern and western Scotland as well as western and northern parts of Ireland. Drizzle in northwest England and the north and west of Wales. Dry and rather cloudy in other areas with an odd spot of drizzle here and there. Mist and fog over northern and western coasts and hills. Highs near 9C in northern Scotland but to 14C in southern England.

Saturday 18/2/23
Some further rain or showers are likely to move across northern and western regions of Britain and Ireland earl on Saturday on brisk westerly winds. A risk of rain turning to snow over the hills of Scotland. Central, southern and eastern districts more likely to remain drier and brighter. Temperatures may be slightly lower than Friday, but still on the mild side, highs 8 to 13C but 5C in northern Scotland.

Sunday 19/2/23
High pressure builds back across the country on Sunday, with a frost and fog patches in the morning. A largely fine day with variable cloud and sunshine. Highs 7 to 12C.

Monday 20/2/23
High pressure stays to the south keeping things settled and fairly mild here. Variable cloud and fog, then sunnier spells developing. Cloudier in the west and northwest with a risk of rain or drizzle in western Scotland. Highs 7 to 11C.

Tuesday 21/2/23
Staying fine for many with high pressure toward the south, some early fog. A cold front toward the northwest may pull into Scotland with some rain and cooler air following. Breezy in the north. Highs 7 to 11C.

Wednesday 22/2/23
weak front brings some cloud to central and southern areas but this breaks to sunny spells. Some wintry showers in northern Scotland where it will feel cold in the strong wind. Drier and cooler for other areas with some sunny spells, Highs at 4C in northern Scotland, 8C in southern England.
