Week ahead - May 02, 2018
Drier & warmer
Cooler mid-week

Issued: 0900 Wednesday 2nd May 2018
Duty forecaster: Dr. Simon Keeling

Warmer and drier weather ahead, but more mixed and cooler by mid-week

Warmer conditions in the days ahead as higher pressure builds. Drier for all areas, although there is the risk of some low cloud and drizzle affecting western coasts and hills. Indications are that conditions may become more mixed again by the middle of next week as lower pressure passes north of Scotland. Turning cooler too.

Saturday 5/5/18
A ridge of high pressure remains through the UK and Ireland on Saturday. Western and southern coasts and hills may have low cloud and drizzle with hill fog. More eastern areas are likely to be brighter with good spells od sunshine. Highs at 12 to 14C on western coasts and hills but to 22C in southeast England.

Sunday 6/5/18
Higher pressure extends through the south on Sunday. This is likely to be bringing fair weather to many areas with good spells of warm sunshine. Some low cloud and drizzle may affect the far northwest of Scotland and western Ireland. Highs at 17 to 23C.

Bank Holiday Monday 7/5/18
Pressure remains high to the east on Bank Holiday Monday. This should bring a dry day with good spells of sunshine. Feeling warm too. There may be more cloud in western Ireland and western Scotland with the risk of some drizzle here. Similar on western coasts of wales and England. Highs at 16C in western Scotland, 24C in southeast England.

Tuesday 8/5/18
A ridge of high pressure affecting the south of Ireland and the south of the UK. Sunny spells and dry here, although cloudier on western coasts and hills. Fair in eastern Scotland but cloud, rain and windier weather in western Scotland and northwest England. Highs at 12C in northwest Scotland, 23C in southeast England.

Wednesday 9/5/18
A ridge of high pressure in the south on Wednesday. This should bring drier weather for many with some sunny spells. Fronts will give cloud and rain to many western parts of Ireland and Scotland, although drier and brighter in the east. Highs at 12 to 17C.

Thursday 10/5/18
Low pressure may pass close to the north of Scotland on Wednesday. This could bring more cloud and rain as well as stronger winds to much of northern England and Scotland. Showers in Ireland but drier to the south of England, although rather cloudy. Highs at 10 to 17C.
