Warmer weather developing through the weekend. High pressure brings plenty of dry weather, although cloudier in Ireland and western Scotland. Heavy showers developing early next week, mostly in southern and western areas, and then further scattered showers are likely towards the end of the week too although confidence in the detail is low.

Monday 21/5/18
A trough brings some showers to southeastern England early on Monday morning. These spread west during the day, some of them becoming locally heavy and thundery. Showers also developing over Wales and southwest England as well as northwest England and southwest Scotland, most in the afternoon. Eastern coasts may see some low cloud too. Sunshine between the showers and staying dry in eastern Scotland ad eastern England. Thicker cloud and some patchy rain in Ireland. Highs at 17 to 25C.


Tuesday 22/5/18
Low pressure stays south of the UK on Tuesday with higher pressure to the north. A warmer day away from coasts. However, the northeast wind may allow for more cloud to affect many central and eastern areaswith heavy and thundery showers developing. Eastern coasts could have low cloud at times with the best sunshine in the west. Highs at 13C on eastern coasts in the stiff breeze, 21 to 26C inland.


Wednesday 23/5/18
Lower pressure to the south and higher pressure to the north on Wednesday, allowing an east or northeast flow. Eastern areas may see some low cloud on coasts again with the best of the snushine further west. A few showers developing on hills in western and southern areas but for most it will be another fine and warm day. Highs at 15C on eastern coasts, 25C in southern England.


Thursday 24/5/18
Pressure stays higher on Thursday with lower pressure to the south. It is likely that the day will be dry with sunny spells, although some heavy showers may form in the afternoon, these being scattered. Highs at 16 to 24C.


Friday 25/5/18
The risk of showers, some thundery on Friday as a trough of low pressure passes east. Overall pressure is high and so fair conditions may well return to the west and north. Detail is uncertain at this time. Highs at 16 to 24C.

Saturday 26/5/18
A fair day for most of Scotland, Ireland, northern and western parts of England and Wales. eastern and southern areas are likely to be breezier with broken cloud and the risk of some showers. Cool on eastern coasts, fair in the west and north and warmer too. Highs at 14 to 22C.
