Mixed with some drier days, coolest in the west

A mixed week ahead when there will be some rain for all areas. The rain tending to be most persistent in the north, although just about anywhere could have a heavy bursts of showery rain. There will be some drier days too. It is likely to be cooler than average overall in western areas, with nearer normal temperatures to the east.

Friday 11/5/18
High pressure to the east on Friday with low pressure to the west. A brisk southerly wind give warm weather and some good spells of sunshine in central and eastern England and Scotland. Thicker cloud and rain in Ireland, this pushing into western Scotland, Wales and western England. Highs at 12 to 14C in the west, 17C in eastern England.


Saturday 12/5/18
An occluded front clearing eastern parts of England on Saturday taking periods of rain with it. Brighter weather and showers follows from the west, these becoming heavier and merging into longer spells of rain in Ireland. Windy in more western areas too. Chilly in the winds to the west at 12 or 13C, but nearer average east at 16C.


 


Sunday 13/5/18
Lower pressure extends through the UK and Ireland on Sunday. This is set to bring a mixed day with showers or longer spells of rain. Some of the rain could be heavy. Highs at 12 to 14C.

 
 
 


Monday 14/5/18
Low pressure is again dominating conditions on Monday. One low pressure may be off to the southeast bringing some showery rain to eastern and southern areas. A further low pressure area to the northwest of Scotland, giving rain here. Elsewhere a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers. Highs at 12 to 16C.


Tuesday 15/5/18
A weak ridge of higher pressure may build through more southern areas giving fair conditions and some sunny spells here. Showery weather to the north and west, some of the showers heavy. Highs at 11 to 15C.

Wednesday 16/5/18
Low pressure to the north and west on Wednesday with higher pressure to the south. Dry weather with sunny spells in the south of the UK but some cloud and rain to the north. Highs at 12 to 20C
