Damp, murky south with periods of rain, drier north and colder here too

Damp and cloudy this morning across southwest England and southern Ireland as well as southern Wales. Hill and coastal fog in these areas too. Drier elsewhere, although rather cloudy. Brighter in northwest Scotland although some rainin the northeast.

Gradually becoming damp through the morning over much of southern Ireland, Wales, the Midlands and southern England, although some brighter skies may arrive in the far southwest. This afternoon sees the damper weather edging north, reaching the southeast of England by late afternoon, and knocking on the door of northern England by evening. Staying drier in the far north of England and Scotland with sunny spells for Scotland too. Chilly in the north, turning a little milder in the south.

Becoming wet tonight through much of Northern Ireland and northern England as well as parts of the Midlands. Heavy showers in west Wales and southwest England as well as southern Ireland. Staying dry in the north of Scotland.
