Rain and strong winds spreading east later..

A cloudy and wet start for England, mostly for the south with rain gradually clearing through the early afternoon with sunny spells following. Elsewhere, expect a mix of sunny spells and occasional showers. Showers will be more frequent over north and west Ireland, western Scotland and then through the afternoon over Northwest England and North Wales. Wintry showers over the Highlands. A longer spell of rain for northern Scotland later in the afternoon. Breezy, but with strong gusts in northwest. Maximum temperatures at 9C in north, but 12C in south.

Occasional showers for the evening and overnight across most parts, with showers being more frequent over western/Northern Ireland, western Scotland, Northwest England and Wales, with wintriness over high ground. A longer spell of rain for northern Scotland with some more persistent snow over western Highlands. Breezy with minimum temperatures at 3C in north and 5C in south.
