Rain and strong winds spreading east later..

A dry and bright start to the day for most of Scotland, eastern and southern parts of England with some sunny spells. Further west thick cloud along with outbreaks of rain, this getting heavy in the afternoon over Ireland and then over western Scotland, northwest England and Wales through the evening. Further east rain will be light. Strong winds with maximum temperatures at 9C in north and 13C in south.

Rain will gradually clear from Ireland in the evening, and then the dry weather will extend eastwards overnight into Sunday. Long clear periods following for the west. Minimum temperature at 6C in north and 9C in south.
