Hot for a few days, then wetter and cooler for the weekend

Hot weather continues for the rest of this week as high pressure affects the British Isles. There will be some cloud and cooler temperatures, mainly in northern Scotland. The weekend becomes more mixed and eventually cooler and fresher as rain passes east, and some of this could be heavy, especially in eastern and southern areas. Drier for a time next week, then turning more mixed by the middle of the week.

Friday 23/7/21
High pressure is expected to be to the northeast of Scotland on Friday. Low pressure developing south of Ireland and this will be nudging a front northwards into the far south of Ireland and southwest England during the day. The front brings cloud and outbreaks of rain and drizzle with it, turning increasingly misty and murky here. Dry for other areas with broken cloud, although some sunny spells too. Highs at a muggy 22 to 27C for most, 20C in the southwest.


Saturday 24/7/21
An area of low pressure drifting through the south of the country on Saturday. There will be outbreaks of thundery rain affecting parts of southern Ireland, England and Wales, misty and murky on coasts and hills too. Northern Ireland and Scotland are likely to be drier although still with a fair amount of cloud. Highs at 25C in any sunshine in England and Wales, 24C in western Scotland and western Ireland, 18C over cloudier eastern and southern coasts.


Sunday 25/7/21
Low pressure affecting England, Wales and the southeast of Scotland on Sunday. This brings further spells of rain, some of it thundery, and remaining misty in central and eastern areas. Getting brighter in the west and drier too with some good spells of sunshine. Becoming much fresher as the winds become north to northwesterly. Highs at 19 to 23C.

Monday 26/7/21
Low pressure in the North Sea on Monday with higher pressure to the west. There will be some showers affecting central and eastern areas. Drier and brighter in the west with some sunny spells. Highs at 19 to 23C.

Tuesday 27/7/21
A ridge of high pressure affects most of the country on Tuesday. There will be sunny spells and it should be mostly dry. A risk of some showers in the far east. Cloud increasing in Ireland later. Highs at 18 to 23C.

Wednesday 28/7/21
Rain arrives in Ireland and the west of the UK through Wednesday. eastern oparts are likely to be brighter and drier with sunny spells. Highs at 19 to 23C.
