Rain, sleet & snow
Chilly

Friday
A chilly day for all with plenty of cloud across Ireland as well as Wales, southern and southwest England. Murky here with mist and fog together with periods of rain and drizzle. This area of damp weather spreads through the Midlands, East Anglia and into northern England as the day progresses. Drier and brighter for Scotland and the far north of England at first, although always some wintry showers in western Scotland. Cloud increasing from the south as the day progresses. High temperatures near 4 to 6C for most, but 12C in the southwest.

Friday Night
Outbreaks of rain affect most parts of Ireland and the UK through the night perhaps with the exceptions of the far east of England and far north of Scotland. Once rain clears western areas, showers follow for coasts and hills and these are likely to be wintry for some. Winds pick up across the country through the night reaching gale force, or stronger, for southwestern areas. Overnight lows range from 1 to 10C, coolest to the north and west.

Saturday
Becoming wet and windy overnight into Saturday morning with a heavy band of rain rushing eastwards through the UK. There is the threat of some snow over high ground of northern England and Scotland. Low pressure is centred to the west of Scotland for much of Saturday, bringing brighter weather but with heavy showers especially in the west. There is the threat of some more persistent snow affecting central and southern parts of Scotland, northern England, northern Ireland and Northern Ireland. Severe gales developing across Ireland, England and Wales. Highs at 4 to 8C, turning colder from the west.

Sunday
A cold day on Sunday with low pressure centred over Scotland. A band of more persistent rain, sleet and snow lies just to the south of the low centre bringing more persistent precipitation to Northern Ireland, southern Scotland and northern England. Cloudier to the north of this with brighter spells to the south. Wintry showers affect western coasts and hills across the country. Severe gales may affect parts of Ireland, Wales and England. Highs at 3 to 8C.
