Fairly high pressure, but a slow-moving weakening front influences northern areas. A light westerly breeze. Murky with low cloud and drizzly rain for north-west England, perhaps some steadier rain for a time. Patchy rain too for western Scotland. A risk of local heavy or thundery showers breaking out for north-east Scotland, and possibly the Borders. Variable cloud for the Midlands, but plenty of sun in the south-east, reaching 27 to 31C. Nearer 18 to 23C in the north & west.

Friday night
Extensive low cloud for western hills across Wales, north-west England and western Scotland. Murk or fog from low levels up in some areas, with patchy drizzle. Cloud breaks toward the east of high ground, and skies often clear for central and southern England. A light west to northwest breeze. Warm and humid in the Midlands, Wales and southern England, staying around 15 to 18C. Lows 10 to 13C in Scotland and northern England.

Saturday
A dry day overall, with high pressure centred to the south-west. Early low cloud and murk, partcularly in the north & west, but breaking up in most places to give good spells of sunshine. Sunniest around southern coasts. Small chance of a local shower over northern hills in the afternoon. Light winds from the west or north-west. Coastal sea breezes. Highs 28 to 31C southern England; 23 to 26C Midlands; 18 to 22C north & west Britain & Ireland.

Sunday
High pressure resides across central and southern Britain, resulting in a fair and warm day for most places. Lots of sunshine. Fronts over the Atlantic encroach toward the north-west, with skies clouding over, and patchy rain developing later for western Scotland and the north-west of Ireland. Southwesterly winds will freshen here too, otherwise light winds and coastal sea breezes. Temperatures ranging from 17C in western Scotland, to 30C in south-east England.
