UK Forecast - August 30, 2018
A mostly dry start
Rain for the north and west

Friday
High pressure holds on across eastern parts of Britain but an occluding frontal trough makes eastwards progress across Ireland and towards Western Scotland. Cloudy skies with patchy, mostly light rain or drizzle will move east across Ireland during the day and reach the northwest of Scotland during the evening. Most of England, Scotland and Wales will have a dry day with spells of sunshine, just the slight risk of an isolated shower in the south. The far southwest of England will be cloudier, though, with the possibility of a little rain or drizzle, Southwest Wales perhaps tending to become cloudier too. Winds mainly light to moderate from the south or southeast but with a fresher breeze for northern and western parts. Daytime highs 15 to 18C in the north and west but up to around 21C for the sunnier parts of England and Wales.

Friday Night
Rain or drizzle, mostly light, will spread east into Western Scotland, West Wales and Southwest England. To the east of this, staying dry with clear spells. Winds remain mostly light but with a fresher south or southeasterly breeze around western coastal fringes. Overnight temperatures at the lowest around 8 Celsius for some sheltered inland spots but holding on into double figures for many parts.

Saturday
High pressure holds on across eastern parts of Britain but an occluding frontal trough makes eastwards progress across Ireland and towards Western Scotland as a weakening feature. Cloudy skies with mostly light rain or drizzle will creep slowly east across the West of Scotland, Northwest England, Wales and Southwest England. Eastern Scotland, Central and eastern parts of England will remain dry, however, with some sunshine. A cloudy start for Ireland with some pockets of drizzle but becoming dry with a chance of brighter skies developing. Winds mainly light to moderate in strength. Daytime highs 15 to 19C in the north, 20 to 23C in the south.

Sunday
A ridge of high pressure extending west across Southern Britain will decline as low pressure to the west of Ireland, moving northeast, drives a cold front across Scotland and Ireland. Much of England and Wales dry with some sunshine, the best of this in the east but western areas cloudier at times again with a little drizzle, chiefly around hills and coasts in Northwest England and West Wales, the risk of any dampness here increasing later. Scotland and Ireland mostly cloudy with rain or drizzle moving slowly east, although Northeast Scotland may stay dry until the night time. Highs 18 to 22C, locally 23 to 25C in the southeast.
