Rain in the west and north, severe gales tonight

Good morning,

A couple of areas of rain affecting the UK and Ireland today. The first is an area of showers and rain in southern Scotland and northern England this morning, this moving north into Scotland and clearing the north this afternoon.
 

The second area of rain is associated with a cold front which will move through Ireland this morning bringing wind and rain. The rain arrives in the west of the UK this afternoon. Becoming breezier here too. Eastern parts of the UK will be dry with sunny spells and it will be mild here.

Get ready for a very windy night ahead with damaging gusts of 70mph in the west.
