Chance of a late thunderstorm

Good morning,

Hot and humid air influences the British Isles today, drawn northwards to all regions on southerly winds, which will be gusty in places.

Most places dry and sunny, although high cloud will tend to build, especially in the west. Local thunderstorms are possible by evening into the night, focused on East Anglia and the far southeast, these drifting offshore into the North Sea overnight.

Some bursts of rain will also affect Northern Ireland in the afternoon, these moving across the Irish Sea into western Britain later as a cold front moves in here, which will pass then eastwards overnight into Saturday.

Today's top temperatures will climb into the upper 20s for most places, widely 27 to 30C for much of England, peaking at 32 or 33C in the London area.

Wales, the west and southwest of England 23 to 26C, freshest near coasts. Scotland will reach 25C in the central belt, and some spots north of the Cairngorms may reach 28C. Western Scotland and Northern Ireland around 19 to 22C.

Have a great day.
Garry
