Morning Call - December 14, 2016
Rain in west
Plenty of cloud

Issued: 0530hrs Wednesday 14th December 2016
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Rain in the west but drier with plenty of cloud elsewhere

Good morning,

Lots of cloud around across much of the country this morning, mild too. There will be some drizzle this morning, mostly on high ground. The cloud is going to be breaking here and there with bright spells developing, the best of these to the north of higher ground where areas are sheltered from the southerly wind.

An area of more persistent rain crosses Ireland and reaches the west of Scotland by mid morning. This rain area then continues to edge steadily eastwards bringing wetter weather into all but the far east of Scotland through this afternoon. Generally dry elsewhere, always with lots of cloud but again this breaking with a few bright or sunny spells forming. Becoming fine and sunny in the west of Ireland, with this sunshine edging slowly east during the day.

The rain band edging eastwards overnight, becoming increasingly patchy and lying through northern England, the Midlands, Wales and into central southern England through the early hours of the morning. Drier weather arriving through Scotland, dry for Ireland as well as East Anglia and the far southeast of England.
